Look out for your neighbors

The Teton Safety Center

Verification and human review reduce risk, but good judgment at the handoff still matters.

Before contacting someone

  • Read the complete description and look for inconsistencies.
  • Be suspicious of prices far below the local market.
  • Keep early communication inside Teton Marketplace.
  • Ask for a fresh, specific photo when something feels unclear.

Before paying

  • Inspect the item, title, serial number, or work credentials.
  • Do not send gift cards, cryptocurrency, deposits, or verification codes under pressure.
  • Confirm the legal owner and use a written bill of sale for high-value items.
  • Verify licenses, insurance, permits, and references for regulated work.

Meeting safely

  • Use a public, staffed location when the item permits.
  • Bring another adult for high-value, remote, or after-dark meetings.
  • Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return.
  • Leave if the item, location, or person does not match the listing.

Report quickly

Use the report control on a listing or email erinnsebay@gmail.com. For an immediate threat or emergency, contact local emergency services rather than waiting for marketplace moderation.
